Celebrating 50 Years of TBC: A Journey of Academic Expansion
Trinity Baptist College (TBC) proudly celebrates 50 years—a milestone that invites reflection on a half-century of commitment to Christian higher education from a Biblical worldview.
Established in 1974, TBC’s foundational programs in Church Ministries and Education laid the groundwork for its reputation as a ministry-focused institution. These programs became the hallmark of the college, shaping generations of leaders to serve within churches, schools, and ministries worldwide.
An Expanding Mission
From the beginning, TBC has prepared specialists in ministry. Over the decades, this mission has grown broader and deeper. TBC believes that ministry is not confined to the pulpit or the classroom, but rather, every career can and should be a platform for living out faith and sharing the gospel. With this understanding, TBC embraced a vision to expand its academic offerings while remaining rooted in its biblical foundation. This is reflected in TBC’s mission statement to prepare Christian men and women for life and ministry and is realized through incorporating diverse academic offerings that equip Christian students to take their faith into all professions.
Academic Expansion
The past decade has been transformative for TBC. Recognizing the diverse needs of Christian students and the evolving demands of society, TBC has introduced programs in criminal justice, Christian counseling, and business—fields that are as impactful as they are versatile.
Most recently, TBC further diversified its academic offerings with an associate degree in math and science as well as in pre-engineering, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Each new program helps students expand their horizons while encouraging them to view their vocations as avenues for living out the gospel in the professional arena.
Building Infrastructure
Enhancing TBC Academics goes far deeper than the expansion of degree offerings. It represents development in physical spaces, internships, and hours of work with the Department of Education behind the scenes.
Several years ago, TBC secured participation in the Florida State Course Numbering System (SCNS). The college continues to expand the number of qualifying courses across all disciplines. This certification guarantees that courses with SCNS numbers offered at TBC are transferable to other state and private colleges in Florida, making the institution an even more attractive choice for students.
Additionally, the fall of 2023 saw the completion of the new Academic Center. This state-of-the-art facility allowed for the consolidation of all college classrooms on one side of the Hammond campus. This long-anticipated project enhances the learning environment and strengthens TBC’s close-knit student community.
Higher Education with a Biblical Worldview
At the heart of TBC’s mission is the belief that all of life should be lived as ministry. This perspective challenges the traditional rigid separation between spiritually focused careers and secular careers, urging students to align every aspect of their lives with Christ. For this reason, TBC prepares students to serve with Biblical integrity whether in the classroom, the workplace, or the community.
Looking to the Future
As TBC reflects on its rich history, it also looks ahead with excitement. Celebrating 50 years is not just about honoring the past; it is about moving forward. With a solid foundation and a clear vision, TBC is poised to continue growing and inspiring generations of Christian leaders. Fifty years is just the beginning!
