Sharing Hope in Callahan
The world is full of hurting people.
No walk of life or stage of life is immune to suffering. Knowing this, Brittany Corbett uses her platform and her own experiences with heartache to share hope with others.
Brittany Corbett graduated with her undergraduate in Christian Counseling from Trinity in 2018. She went on to earn her Master of Arts of Biblical Studies from Trinity in 2021.
She now lives in Callahan, Florida, with her husband, Dillon Corbett. Brittany is the small groups director and her husband is the youth pastor at Callahan First Baptist Church. In addition to small groups and being involved with the youth ministry alongside her husband, Brittany currently oversees several ministry programs, including Celebrate Recovery, Grief Share, and The Storehouse, a food pantry ministry which is open twice a month.
Making a difference in Callahan.
Leading these ministries allows Brittany to effectively speak hope and truth into hurting lives on a consistent basis.
In recent weeks, a series of tragic losses and other difficult life circumstances have found their way to Grief Share. Through each of these heartbreaking scenarios, Brittany has seen God’s goodness meeting them at their point of need. From offering compassion in practical ways or facilitating their connection with a certified counselor, to sharing the gift of eternal hope and salvation through the gospel, Brittany feels privileged to play a part in offering hope amid their grief and hurt.
Helping people find common ground.
Sometimes, individuals benefit from meeting with others who are experiencing similar life challenges. Brittany says that these two programs have proved over and again how helpful guidance and accountability can make a huge difference!
Addressing physical needs.
The Storehouse addresses the immediate physical need of food insecurity while providing open doors to ministry.
“We have people come to Storehouse and we give them food of course, but we have people that line up for prayer, and we go to every single car and ask them how we can pray for them and if they are saved. There are some really hard times in there… people struggling with cancer, families that are homeless, things like that. It’s really cool that I have connections now, through my counseling degree, that I can push them to when it’s needed.”
A full-circle ministry.
The opportunity to minister to the people of Callahan is especially significant for Brittany. Her grandparents attended and served at this same church for decades before her. She feels as though she has been given the gift of continuing their work. In several instances she serves the same families that her grandparents served and is seeing the long-term impact of their investment.
Speaking of her days as a student at TBC, Brittany says she appreciates that she learned how to be fully invested in serving other people while learning her own limits as well as gaining practical skills in effective communication and professionalism. She has found this helpful when navigating the often-overlapping line between ministry and personal life.
Brittany and Dillon are excited to become parents this summer and ask you to join them in prayer for a safe and healthy delivery.
