Students Helping Students

We love to see Trinity students on the lookout for creative ways to meet needs!
Students in one of Trinity’s counseling courses are using their class project to give back to their campus community.
Dr. Buckner’s Group Counseling course teaches how to work together and engage as a group, and how to use that as a bridge to help others. This is put into practice through a group project. Knowing that college students tend to live on a tight budget, this class decided to organize a food pantry on campus as well as small garden. The project will support resident students who would benefit from a selection of shelf-stable foods supplemented with some fresh greens. An added benefit is the opportunity to spend time learning to cultivate a garden.
The class has divided the project into three committees: one for fundraising, one to tend the garden, and one to manage the pantry.
Students planted the garden last month, and planning is underway for stocking and organizing the pantry. The fundraising committee has a car wash planned this Saturday to help offset some of the initial costs of the project.
You can be involved!
There are two easy ways you can support this project:
- Come get all that dust and pollen washed off your car this Saturday
- Consider donating to the food pantry with shelf-stable foods (drop off at the car wash on Saturday or bring to the Welcome Center during normal business hours)
We hope you will show your support this weekend! The car wash will be on the Trinity campus (Main Academic Center parking lot) this Saturday, April 5, between 9am and noon.
