TBC welcomes Mr. Brian Maggard as Dean of Men

Trinity Baptist College is excited to announce the addition of Mr. Brian Maggard as the new Dean of Men.

With a passion to serve young people with energy and excellence, Mr. Maggard is excited to meet TBC students where they are and support their spiritual and academic development.

As Dean of Men, Mr. Maggard will serve college students and engage in their day-to-day lives.

This covers a broad spectrum of influence, from one-on-one mentorship of male TBC students to providing support for the overall student body population.

This is a key role that has the potential to make life-long positive impact in each student through discipleship and accountability.

Students are more likely to flourish spiritually when mentored by someone who is willing to spend time teaching them how to orient their lives around biblical principles.  Mentorship at this level naturally offers accountability in all aspects of being a TBC student, including student behavior expectations.  Often, student success is linked to an understanding of expectations.

Mr. Maggard says he thrives in roles that allow him to teach others about the gospel and mentor them in a Biblical worldview.  Because of this, we believe he will be a great addition to TBC staff as Dean of Men.  Mentorship, at its core, is teaching outside of the classroom and it allows for nuanced and personalized guidance that may not be possible in the typical classroom.

“I love getting kids sparked about the gospel and living all of life to the glory of God. Teaching is my heart.  If I can get young people excited about the Bible and about the world they live in, that is amazing.  They need to see that they can tackle the hard subjects.”

Mr. Maggard will be heavily involved with maintaining a vibrant student body campus life.

From the spiritual (Bible study groups) to the fun (organized entertainment and activities).  He will be working in conjunction with the Dean of Women and Student Affairs Office.

Additionally, Mr. Maggard will be teaching in the classroom.

He believes that students must be academically prepared to hold their own in the world, to know what they believe, and be able to speak the language of the academic.

Speaking of the world of academia he says, “That world can be hostile to the biblical worldview.  Many people cave to a non-biblical worldview because it is easier.  It is easy to avoid difficult subjects in order to get heard or published… but they [students] need to know they can handle the hard subjects!  You have to know where you stand.  You have to be able to speak the language of the academic without falling for that worldview.”

His personal objective in the classroom is to make the academic world accessible to the students in the classroom so they are equipped to interact with the brilliant minds in the world.

“They need to be able to stand on our own, meet people where they are, and understand where they differ and where they agree.  They must have a good solid grasp of what they believe.”

Mr. Maggard and his family join us from Vertical Church Albuquerque, where he has served as Associate Pastor.

He is a candidate for a Ph.D. with Veritas International University, and has extensive experience in leading, counseling, and teaching. His strengths are discipleship, spiritual growth, biblical archaeology, theology, hermeneutics, apologetics, church history, ecclesiology, and evangelism.

Thanks to his background in archaeology, Mr. Maggard has led tours in Israel.

This unique experience has allowed him to share his knowledge of general and biblical history in both Israel and Jordan.

Mr. Maggard has lectured post-graduate students at Veritas International University and is a contributor to Near Eastern Archaeology Review.

Additionally, he has presented papers to the Near Eastern Archaeology Society (NEAS), at the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) 2023 and was asked to return in November of this year.

  • Mr Brian Maggard is my mentor and he is absolutely one of the best teachers I have had. His guidance inspired me to be a researcher and I have grown to be very passionate, as he is, about the truth and teaching people who God really is in the face of false doctrination and to those who need to know just how much God loves them. So glad that many more will be blessed with his mentorship.
