Trinity Welcomes Evelyn Bennett

Trinity is pleased to welcome Ms. Evelyn Bennett to our faculty as Assistant Professor of Mathematics.
With over 13 years of experience teaching at both the high school and college levels, she brings a passion for mathematics and a desire to see students grow academically and spiritually.
Bennet has always loved the beauty, order, and logic of mathematics.
What started as a personal interest developed into a calling and passion for education in her junior high years.
After thirteen years in the classroom, Bennett observes that emphasizing a growth mindset and celebrating progress are key to helping students be successful. These two concepts have come to shape her teaching philosophy.
“Many students carry anxiety about math due to past negative experiences or the belief that math ability is innate. I work to create an encouraging and structured environment that shows students they can succeed with the right support and effort.”
As an educator, Bennett hopes her students will learn more than math skills.
Of course, she does love math and even admits to having a special affinity for teaching algebra and pre-calculus. As critical building blocks for higher-level thinking and problem solving, she finds that they encourage students to build confidence and connect abstract concepts to real-word applications.
But beyond math, she desires for her students to come away from her classroom with “greater perseverance, critical thinking skills, confidence, and a sense of curiosity. I want them to see challenges not as roadblocks but as opportunities to grow.”
Growing up in a Christian household, Bennet came to know Christ at a young age and considers her grandmother her most significant spiritual mentor.
She is excited to join a college community that is committed to biblical truth and student growth because those priorities align with her own personal values.
Bennett holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Mathematics from Savannah State University.
