White Stone Award Presented to Coach Jon Copeland

During this year’s Homecoming festivities, TBC presented head Baseball Coach Jon Copeland with the White Stone Award.
This special moment was TBC’s way of recognizing Coach Copeland for his dedication to leading his teams with passion and excellence, as well as for his perseverance during a life-threatening health event earlier this year and his continuing recovery.
TBC Athletic Director John Jones presented the award with a warm address (read the entire speech here). He gave a brief overview of Coach Copelands history at TBC, including his leadership and successful launch of the TBC Eagles baseball program, eventually leading the team to earn an invitation to the NCCAA College World Series.
Jones shared from his heart what Copeland means to TBC Baseball, the TBC Eagles Athletics program, and Trinity Baptist College, and thanked him for his inspirational determination to overcome.
“…as we honor Coach Copeland today, it is not simply for his incredible success on the diamond. No, today we recognize Coach Copeland for something far greater: his unwavering faith and unshakable spirit in the face of life’s most difficult challenges.
Earlier this year, in the midst of the baseball season, Coach Copeland was confronted with a life-threatening health crisis. It was a battle that took him from the ball field to the ICU, where he spent weeks undergoing numerous surgeries and months of rehabilitation. He still has one final surgery to face, but through it all, his faith in God has never faltered. In every phone call and visit, he has remained upbeat, encouraging, and full of hope, always speaking of the day when he will return to his calling—coaching the game he loves and mentoring young men for the glory of God.”
TBC is grateful to God for the progress Copeland has made in his recovery, and happy to honor Jon Copeland for being an example of what it looks like to face adversity with faith and reliance on the One who is in control!
